  • We are now going into the Chapel of Golgotha.
  • Mosaic showing Christ being nailed to the cross, the 11th Station.
  • Then the Crucifixion of our Lord, or the 12th Station.

  • Here people may kiss the spot where the cross is believed to have stood.

  • This large mosaic shows 3 scenes.  Christ being taken down from the cross; wrapped in the shroud and then placed in the tomb.

  • This slab of marble has traditionally been venerated as the place where they hastily wrapped Christ body with the shroud.  Christians venerate this spot, the 13th Station, praying for those in need, and place religious articles to be blessed. Once again, a moving spot for our students.

  • Finally, not far from the scene of the crucifixion is a separate chapel where Christ's body was laid to rest, the 14th Station.  Originally, it was a cave, similiar to what you will see shortly.  Now it is the Church of the Resurrection.
